![]() These are considered replacement stocks from the 1920s. The rifle is all matching with what appears to be the original barrel, (dated 9-18) and the stock is also a Remington ("R" on the front of the stock), but its made of yellow birch with a nice flame pattern. I would expect more brownish patina if the blued finish was original from 1918. There is some high-edge finish wear, but its minimal. I don't know what to make of it: I think its an older restoration, as the blued finish certainly doesn't look 100 years old. As seen in the pics, the stock and handguard are unusual for an M1917 - they are yellow birch (e.g. ![]() I too originally wanted a Winchester, but a collector I know had a unique Remington M1917 that he sold me.
